THERE IS NO OTHER NAME (A Song of Praise)

THERE IS NO OTHER NAME

Chorus
There is no other name
No other name that will lead
Lead you through the trials and the flame
I can’t tell you of all the times
The name of Jesus has come
Into my life each and every day
But this I can tell you
I am restored and no longer the same

When the tears of the evening mist
Capture pain and no longer resist
The feelings of being unloved and ashamed
Are no longer lovingly framed

When the hurts of the past won’t let go
Friends and loved ones, they no longer show
The feelings now empty will never contain
What a true love once promised to stain

Chorus
There is no other name
No other name that will lead
Lead you through the trials and the flame
I can’t tell you of all the times
The name of Jesus has come
Into my life each and every day
But this I can tell you
I am restored and no longer the same

But through all of the darkness that hides
His Name shines so brilliantly through
And there is nothing His Name won’t ever achieve
So it’s time for all darkness to leave

Now the smiles of the sunshine rejoice
And sweet memories find a new voice
The feelings of being so wanted, adored
Flow outward and are no longer stored

No other name
No other name
Just the sweetness of the name of Jesus
No other name
No other name
Just the sweetness in the name of Jesus

Chorus
There is no other name
No other name that will lead
Lead you through the trials and the flame
I can’t tell you of all the times
The name of Jesus has come
Into my life each and every day
But this I can tell you
I am restored and no longer the same

♦ His Billows

Shade of the Moriah Tree

wave

They are HIS waves, whether they break over us,
Hiding His face in smothering spray and foam;
Or smooth and sparkling, spread a path before us,
And to our haven bear us safely home.

They are HIS waves, whether for our sure comfort
He walks across them, stilling all our fear;
Or to our cry there comes no aid nor answer,
And in the lonely silence none is near.

They are HIS waves, whether we are hard-striving
Through tempest-driven waves that never cease,
While deep to deep with turmoil loud is calling;
Or at His word they hush themselves in peace.

They are HIS waves, whether He separates them,
Making us walk dry ground where seas had flowed;
Or lets tumultuous breakers surge about us,
Rushing unchecked across our only road.

They are HIS waves, and He directs us through them;
So He has promised, so His love will do.

HAS, IS, WILL THE LORD? (A Song of Praise)

HAS, IS, WILL THE LORD

Has the Lord
Has the Lord
Has the Lord done great things for thee?
Has the Lord
Has the Lord
Has the Lord done great things for thee?
Then lift your praise
Lift your praise
Lift your praise and turn your feet
Lift your praise
Lift your praise
Turn your feet and walk His ways

Is the Lord
Is the Lord
Is the Lord doing great things for thee?
Is the Lord
Is the Lord
Is the Lord doing great things for thee?
Then lift your praise
Lift your praise
Lift your praise and turn your feet
Lift your praise
Lift your praise
Turn your feet and walk His ways

Will the Lord
Will the Lord
Will the Lord do great things for thee?
Will the Lord
Will the Lord
Will the Lord do great things for thee?
Then lift your praise
Lift your praise
Lift your praise and turn your feet
Lift your praise
Lift your praise
Turn your feet and walk His ways

Only He
Only He
Has, is and will forever be
Only He
Only He
Has, is and will forever be
So lift your praise
Lift your praise
Lift your praise and turn your feet
Lift your praise
Lift your praise
Turn your feet and walk His ways

THESE TYRES DON’T FIT … A Devotional

flatfoot senselessly mature flat tire
Have you ever found yourself living somewhere where you just don’t feel settled? Or in a fellowship; where it doesn’t matter how much praise you lift heavenwards, how friendly you are, you still feel unwelcome (Oh the Lord welcomes you; but I’m talking about your brothers and sisters in Christ). Maybe you are unhappy in your job, your relationship with others, with life itself. Nothing seems to flow smoothly. The wheels of each day keep moving forward; but you are being injured in the process. By cruel taunts, conditional love, loneliness, sickness, struggling to make ends meet or not having the desires of your heart met.

The journey stretches before you and you try desperately to stay on the right road … there’s just something holding you back.

The motor’s running. You check your rear vision mirror, you check your seatbelt, you check the level of your petrol, you indicate and then with care, you move from where you were.

Something’s just not right though. Stopping more than once because of the rough ride, you admit defeat and knowing it’s not safe to continue, you come to a standstill. Neither here … neither there. Not home … not at your destination.

The clock ticks, the hours pass. No-one has come to your assistance. (Doesn’t it feel like this sometimes when you feel you are unprotected and feeling very vulnerable … in any circumstance?)

Then a fellow traveller appears from over the hill, he smiles and asks if he can help. He looks over the vehicle … everything’s in order … until he notices the tyres. Oh, they’re new. Nice and shiny and new. New and flat. He helps you fill them to their capacity and sends you joyfully on your way … this time there is no swerving and you safely reach your destination. No longer empty; but full of hope.

Whenever you find yourself feeling uncomfortable or unsure that you are in the right place, where God wants you … pray. Pray and ask the Lord to send you out into the day filled. Filled with the Holy Spirit … yes, to capacity. You may come up against persecution, be ridiculed or even shunned; but remember :

“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.” 1 John 4:4 KJV

and with God, you will never find yourself somewhere without help.

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1 KJV

Don’t forget that you are a new creation in Christ Jesus … yes and He is perfect; but we still have to check ourselves and motives daily otherwise we will never function to our best potential and bring Him glory.

Please don’t leave your house (start your day) without checking that you are spiritually full. If you do, I can guarantee you are in for a rocky ride.

A TALE OF TWO YARNS … A Devotional

yarn colored multi-colored

Knit one, purl one, knit one, purl one …

Woops! Dropped one, oh dear! And there goes another … help!

I would like you to sit with me awhile and watch this knitted garment become a reality … wearable, functional … whole.

Imagine you are comfortable, in your favourite chair. Maybe a cup of tea or coffee by your side. It’s a beautiful day. The birds are singing. Or maybe it’s the still of the night … but there’s a light on whatever time it is.

You look toward the ground and there in your favourite knitting basket are balls and balls of beautiful wool, all shapes and sizes. Some with additional fluffy bits or glitter, some coarser than others, some so fine you have to be really careful or it will snap in your fingers.

You take up the pair of knitting needles and off you go …

Knit one, purl one, knit one, purl one …

And then it happens you drop one, then another … the phone rings. You trip over the wool trying to get to it … it breaks. Sigh! Wrong number. You start again.

All is going well, the ball is becoming smaller. The garment is taking shape. Every now and then, the wool becomes tangled. You drop another stitch. You knit the wrong stitch. A hole forms. Another sigh; but you keep going. You persevere knowing that if you give up now, you’re left with half a ball of prettiness on the floor and an unfinished garment, suitable for nothing, save a new blanket for dear sweet kitty (who by the way has been trying to immerse himself in the basket of delight by your feet).

Backwards and forwards, backwards and forwards, the ball decreases in size, what you are knitting increases, the ball increases in size, the other decreases … it’s frustrating. At times you feel you are going nowhere … but still you keep going.

Finally, it’s done. You sit there and look over your now completed masterpiece. Could have been better you think.

Maybe I should start again! No, I’ll put it on and wear it with pride. The ball’s gone and my work is done.

Have you ever felt like your life is like this … continually taking two steps forward, one step back. Or is it one step forward, two steps back? Always remember that the Lord is in control. It doesn’t matter how much that you feel your life is unravelling. How many ‘holes’ are appearing. How many things you think you have lost. He sees the finished you. He sees you so beautifully complete in His precious Son, Christ Jesus. Don’t try and run away with the ball of circumstances and hide.

He’s making something glorious and perfect in His eyes … You.

Trusting Trust

we walk by faith

Trust means placing both of our hands in the Lord’s hand and allowing Him to lead the way
even though we cannot see the path His light shines upon,
where our footsteps will go,
when we will move,
when we will rest
or know how long it will take to go
where we don’t know where we are going
how we will be able to do what He has planned for us,
how to say what He would have us say,
how to listen when He would have us listen,
how to give when He would have us give
or how to receive what He has in His treasure house for us.

We can trust though, because His love enables us to flow beautifully
in the peace of knowing that in His care, we are safe.

SEE THE SNOW PINK BALLERINA

The gentle sway of her body,
The gracious pose of her arm,
To see the beautiful motion,
Shows mystery in her charm.

Soft organza, she did twirl,
And on her toes, she arose,
A billowing cloud of perfection,
This grand profession, she chose.

Layers and layers of tulle,
Over rosebuds oh! so sweet,
And every so often, petals,
Would be caught in every pleat.

Her hair all neat and pulled back,
In a round, netted bun,
And interlaced within,
Golden highlights of the sun.

Smudged brown eyes all doe-like,
English rose-blushed cheeks,
Lips of cotton candy,
Make her finished look, complete.

The performance is soon ending,
And as her hands sweep from above,
Out of every corner,
Came applause and roses and love.

Solo performer,
Entertaining the audience,
With her beautiful talents.

WHEN HURT CAN HURT NO MORE (A Song of Encouragement When a Relationship Ends)

WHEN HURT CAN HURT NO MORE

WHEN HURT CAN HURT NO MORE
Every time you leave, you leave
A thorn within my heart
But time and memories restore
What love has torn apart

Chorus
When hurt can hurt no more, no more
When hurt’s had its final say, go away
You cannot hurt me anymore, anymore
‘Cause this heart grows stronger every day

It used to be I’d hang on to
The sweetness of your words
But then I realized the truth
Reality was heard

Chorus
When hurt can hurt no more, no more
When hurt’s had its final say, go away
You cannot hurt me anymore, anymore
‘Cause this heart grows stronger every day

When you told me that you loved me
I saw it in your eyes
I had fallen deeply, so deep
Believed in all your lies

Chorus
When hurt can hurt no more, no more
When hurt’s had its final say, go away
You cannot hurt me anymore, anymore
‘Cause this heart grows stronger every day

And then you were gone, no goodbye
Another love worn crime
The thorn tore at my healed heart
Tore it for the last time

You may have left; but you’re not forgotten
You may have broken me once too often
You may have thought I was worthless, a game
But one day love’s hurt, your heart, will tame

Once I was defeated, so hurt
Ripped apart, so unsure
But now my heart’s free with new love
And hurt can hurt no more

Oh! Hurt can hurt no more, no more
Hurt can hurt no more
