Near Thy Sweet Haven

storm above sea

My heart aches for you Oh! Lord, in perfection I adore
Perfection of Your endless grace, mercy given to distant shore
Guide me through the narrow gates, shelter me in the wildest storm
Unto me You have freely sent, in fondness perfect form
Unto me You have freely loved, brought my soul back to life and more

Be thou humble when in need
For need is known, and He will lead

Through the troubled nights of late, days are endless, and shadows surrender
Feeling like my prayer has wavered, return, return, return to sender
Neither I delight in and so I cry, send the saving light into the darkness
Let Your star-lights flicker inwards, lighting hope and filling starkness
Unto me be pleased, Your forgiveness, Your forgiving peace to render

Be thou humble when in need
For need is known, and He will lead

Teardrops nestle on Thy word, I have gone a-wandering lonesome
Teach me of Your gentle nature, come into my heart, my Saviour, come
I am weary; but You have promised, never in blindness my steps will be
So I follow Your footsteps, where’s there room for me, room for me
To place my restless foot in time with, Jesus, God’s only begotten Son

Living Water

beautiful scenery 02 hd picture

Should we never stop to wonder
Of our Saviour’s love for us
Should we never thirst nor hunger
Seek His pardon, that, we must

When our very lives are draining
Into the sea of no return
When we feel like we are drowning
Living water flowing heals us, to You we turn

Please let your Living Water flow
Throughout our lives and in those we know
Cleanse us with Your Living Word
We praise the Lord for the moment first heard

Thank you for drawing us from the darkened pit
Thank you for causing our paths to be lit
Lit by the light of Your immutable Way
Take our hands we might falter, a promise forever, be our stay

Upon the path scattered with countless treasures, love and gold
Too much, too beautiful and in our hands they unfold
For these perfect gifts would slide right out of our lives
Unless our hand is in Your hand, held by scars of strife
-And they will only be ours, when they rest in Your life-

Just When I Thought

creative heartshaped 01 hd picture

So just when I thought
It is well, ‘Praise the Lord’ at long last
Along comes another test
And once again I relive the past

So much sadness, tears
I cannot understand
This wheel, it just keeps turning
Spinning webs of too soft sand

And on this whirling sand
No security is found
To find a foothold fast
On a haven needed sound

But there is much strength deep within
Hidden, revealed and yet
For underneath that sinking sand
Is solid rock on which my feet do set

PLEASE HUG THEM (My Prayer For All Who Are Going Through Extreme Trials)

I dedicate this precious song to all who are trapped or feel like they are trapped in circumstances beyond their control. I think of the fires, the floods, those in the path of the impending hurricane/s, abuse, addictions, hunger, thirst, loneliness, homelessness, unemployment, sickness, loss of loved ones … any situation where you’ve lost all hope …

silhouette woman tree

PLEASE HUG THEM (for those who are hurting)
Tears are welling up inside
I see so much around me
Turmoil, sadness, unbelief
Too much for this heart to see

Children crying, some dying
Hunger, thirst, poverty
No love given, no love there
Vacant eyes stare distantly

Chorus
There are so many hurting
So many feeling hopeless
So many lost, abandoned
Sick and dying
And I’m too far away
So all I can do is pray
God, please hug your loved ones
Those in need, today
Please hug them Lord in Jesus’ name
And take their pain away

Women lost without their homes
Men despair without income
Families torn, separated
Floods, fires and storms make them numb

Watching death take victory
Among them that are so close
Feeling left behind and worthless
Overwhelmed by each new dose

Chorus
There are so many hurting
So many feeling hopeless
So many lost, abandoned
Sick and dying
And I’m too far away
So all I can do is pray
God, please hug your loved ones
Those in need, today
Please hug them Lord in Jesus’ name
And take their pain away

Bridge
Hug them as they’ve never been hugged before
Hug them till love opens heaven’s door
Hug them till their knees lower to the floor
And with joy they praise and adore

So that is why I cry now
And stand before You broken
Release them from emptiness
Let Love be heard and spoken

All Your creatures are groaning
And nothing can stay the same
Daily there is tragedy
Lord, reveal Your great Name

Chorus
There are so many hurting
So many feeling hopeless
So many lost, abandoned
Sick and dying
And I’m too far away
So all I can do is pray
God, please hug your loved ones
Those in need, today
Please hug them Lord in Jesus’ name
And take their pain away
And take their pain away

THIS SAND WILL NEVER HOLD ME UP (Song Lyrics)

Beach 2

Chorus
No, no, no, no, no
Please don’t build lost dreams upon the sand
They may shine like gold; but never stand
Stop trying to mend the crumbling wall
With sweet worldly fill, it’s sure to fall

This sand will never hold me up
As I walk, and look for treasures
Seeking for someone, anything
Wasting time on empty leisures

It looks so vast, so deep, so firm
And sometimes, the tide makes it so
But in comes intense furnace heat
And burns where the tears of hope flow

It is soon too soft to walk on
This once appealing field of gold
Dreams sink, and there’s no-one around
To catch me, strengthen me, and hold

But I trusted in all I saw
I said, I trusted in all things
Things laid before desperate eyes
Now I see, the bondage it brings

I’d been trying to build this wall
Each day, upon my lonely heart
Piece upon piece of worthlessness
Just leaving me falling apart

Chorus
No, no, no, no, no
Please don’t build lost dreams upon the sand
They may shine like gold; but never stand
Stop trying to mend the crumbling wall
With sweet worldly fill, it’s sure to fall

I’d place each begging so called gift
Those that only money can buy
Stand back, feel myself slowly sink
Once again feel the pain, and sigh

Well this kept going on and on
Three steps forward, three steps backward
Till a beautiful stranger, He
Showed me love to build me upward

This sand will never hold me up
Only love can mend brokenness
I may be brought down in pieces
But He will complete to wholeness

He will perfect me in His time
No more to do this on my own
Dazzling jewels He soon will place
Strong foundation, no longer blown

Who is this beautiful stranger
Appearing at my hour of need
’Tis Jesus, my Lord and Saviour
Took my hand and with His, did lead

Chorus
No, no, no, no, no
Please don’t build lost dreams upon the sand
They may shine like gold; but never stand
Stop trying to mend the crumbling wall
With sweet worldly fill, it’s sure to fall

Only the One who made the earth
Spoke, and the heavens did sparkle
Can embroider each wall of life
Give solid ground on Holy Hill

I’VE BEEN IN THE VALLEY (A Song of Encouragement for Those Entering in, Already in, or Leaving)

I'VE BEEN IN THE VALLEY

Lord, there was a time
You walked me through the valley

But You have lifted me, yes me
Upon the mountain realm so high
Lifted me out of desperation
Lifted me from despair
And now my dearest Saviour
At last I breathe the mountain air
Feel new strength and life again
O sweet mountain air
O sweet mountain air

Chorus
O I’ve been in the valley
Where many have passed before in pain
Many are soon to enter this journey
And their life will never be the same

Yes, I’ve been in the valley
Where many tears washed the road that heals
Washed and released many a treasure
That only a walk in the valley reveals

Lord, it used to be
That I thought I’d never leave
Never escape this weary way
Where the birds were ever silent
And no sweet flower bloomed for me
Day and night, the turmoil
Kept me from sensing any love
Until You Lord, this illness rent
O You freed me, lifted me
And this illness rent
And this illness rent

Chorus
O I’ve been in the valley
Where many have passed before in pain
Many are soon to enter this journey
And their life will never be the same

Yes, I’ve been in the valley
Where many tears washed the road that heals
Washed and released many a treasure
That only a walk in the valley reveals

O I praised Him when the road was dim
I praise Him now, I praise, praise Him
I praise Him now, I praise, praise Him

Yes, I praised Him when the road was dim
And I praise Him now, I praise, praise Him
I praise Him now, I praise, praise Him

Lord, there was a time
You walked me through the valley

The Right End of the Boat

green boat

Can you be sure, you’re down the right end
Down the right end of the boat?
There’s only one end, and that be the right one
So follow along, and take note

The seas may be glassy, crystal clear
Misty grey, or mirror blue
The seas may be foaming, churning with high waves
Upon this, your journey so new

You may have joined Him, to find sweet peace
Or maybe to escape pain
You may have joined Him, longing for a pure love
Or you’re poor, and looking for gain

Just remember the boat has two sides
Narrow; but come take a seat
One end you’ll join the darkness of ruthless fear
Down the other, Jesus you’ll meet

Make a choice, even when waves are still
Step into the boat, and live
In darkness or brilliant light, you’ll be safe
But only with Him, peace He’ll give

He’ll speak into that need or burden
Get close, and Holy Breath feel
I know which end of the boat you will find me
Come join me, and at His feet kneel

“And He was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake Him, and say unto Him, Master, carest Thou not that we perish?

And He arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

And He said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?” Mark 4:38-40

In the Midst of It All – When Trials Threaten to Overwhelm

Complete

In the midst of it all
Through fiery trials and more
I could not go alone
Your soft, scarred hand
Leads me gently home to shore

In the midst of it all
You are there with me
I need not ask for deliverance
But only to feel and know
That my Saviour I might see

In the midst of it all
As painful as it may be
Oh! Lord remember me
Your Son has been before
I bow on bended knee

In the midst of it all
I will not completely fall
He walks beside me still
Whispers only “Be still”
Jesus my All-in-All

Psalm 124 … God Is On Our Side

red dinghy

Psalm 124

1 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, now may Israel say;

2 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us:

3 Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:

4 Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:

5 Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.

6 Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.

7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.

8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
