WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE, DEAR FRIEND

confusion bd

In this changing time of uncertainty
In these ever-changing days
Where do you seek your peace, oh!
Are you trusting in your own ways?

Do days seem longer, more hours to fill
Is the night even darker
Have you lost your closest love
Do you struggle, growing weaker

Food and essentials flying off the shelves
Told to stay at home and rest
Social distancing for all
The new feeling close that is best

Every country suffering differently
Still, everyone affected
Jobs lost, households torn apart
Some families reunited

Beaches and shopping centres, so much closed
The sun still shines, the waves crash
Online sales go through the roof
Endless wipes go out with the trash

Where do we go from here, dear friend
Where do we go from here
Will the air ever clear, dear friend
Will the air ever clear
What will we do when it’s over, dear friend
What will we do when it’s over
Will it ever be the same
Will it go back to normal
Sane
Will it ever go back to sane
Can you tell me
Do I really want to know
Will we ever know the same
No, I don’t think so

Longest queues ever for aid and supplies
And some don’t see eye to eye
Yet some seem unfazed, no fear
Why, have you ever wondered why

Homes are stockpiled, where shall we store it all
Will we use everything
Hearts are breaking and broken
Tears they flow, it’s so hard to sing

The streets echo their stillness, vacancy
No-one sees flashing neons
The air is so much purer
Snow-capped range no more illusions

Out of this deep sadness will come beauty
Somehow, somewhere, yes, some time
Dear friend, look up, see the truth
And take heart, through this uphill climb

One day when this is all over, look back
See how strong you have become
Know you are being held close
With help from above, you have won

Where do we go from here, dear friend
Where do we go from here
Will the air ever clear, dear friend
Will the air ever clear
What will we do when it’s over, dear friend
What will we do when it’s over
Will it ever be the same
Will it go back to normal
Sane
Will it ever go back to sane
Can you tell me
Do I really want to know
Will we ever know the same
No, I don’t think so

THE PRICE OF LOVE

the first communion holidays

Love’s price, no, we cannot comprehend
How much our Father loved us to send
Son Jesus, it hurt, He hid His face
Suffering sent, to die in our place

Before His death, Hosannas rang forth
Palm leaves were laid, as He headed north
Footsteps leading to both pain and joy
Passed through angelic voice to destroy

Some loved Him from overflowing hearts
Others despised Him, spoke fiery darts
Forward He went, with you on His mind
Came obediently, others to find

Till, at the appointed time, He was
With presence of His disciples ‘twas
At Bethany, a dear woman there
Drew close to pour ointment on His hair

And she poured pure sweetness on His head
Costly ointment on Him, she did shed
And the Lord knew the love in her heart
A place in His story did impart

Oh Lord! Help us to fragrance our lives
With the droplets fallen from your sides
Wash away all that is in darkness
And Your Power, Love, Sound Mind harness

We are so blessed to know only You
Covered in safety, not what is due
You’ve given so much, for us, no cost
Life, forgiveness, since Your blood was lost
