YOU FOUND ME BY THE WELL OF DESPAIR … (Please Listen and Be Blessed)

plant growing in desert

Chorus
You found me by the well of despair
Alone and thirsty, You found me there
Oh! Jesus, You sought me out
You left heaven to find me
I thought every day would be the same
But You came, gently whispering my name

Sometimes You lovingly lead us
Away from all things that we know
Take us to places far away
You lead us, a new life to show

We think it’s for us, this leading
To lift us from adversity
But we reach the destination
And sense loss of security

And then You bring a hurting one
They meet us by the water’s edge
And all that You’ve ever shown us
Flows, and washes away pain’s hedge

Chorus
You found me by the well of despair
Alone and thirsty, You found me there
Oh! Jesus, You sought me out
You left heaven to find me
I thought every day would be the same
But You came, gently whispering my name

We cry oh! Lord, why is this so
We’re struggling, we need help as well
Now there’s more brokenness to heal
But that’s when You say, ‘All is well’

I’ve already lifted you out
Out of the dark well of despair
Your purging is done, you are free
’Tis for them that I brought you here

And I will come, deliver them
Bring forth life from the seeds you’ve sown
And in your sweet obedience
Richer days, I will walk you home

Chorus
You found me by the well of despair
Alone and thirsty, You found me there
Oh! Jesus, You sought me out
You left heaven to find me
I thought every day would be the same
But You came, gently whispering my name

Our holy audacity and deep intimacy with Jesus come from those dark, inscrutable tunnels of suffering and uncertainty. They teach and re-orient. Ultimately they turn into songs of joy.
