The Unfulfilled Rose – Sadness as Blossoms Fall and Lie in Falling Tears

A little something I wrote six years ago:-

Shattered in the Rain Over the last week or so, I have been peering out of our bay window on waking, to see my beautiful ‘English Rose’ blossoming before my very eyes and being in awe, once again, of the perfect work of my Lord and Saviour. This is one of two David Austin roses that I recently bought and I was so excited to see the finished rose.

Shattered in the Rain 2We’ve been having soft; but steady rain for quite a while now and the rose continued to break forth and grasp as much sunlight as possible.

Shattered in the Rain 3Words cannot describe this gorgeous bloom laced with scent from heaven.

Shattered in the Rain 4Sadly, the rain was bruising the underside (sorry I’m not technical in botanical terms).

Shattered in the Rain 5But each morning brought with it another stunning image.

Shattered in the Rain 6Really starting to open up now. I’m in love.

Shattered in the Rain 7So many petals on one sweet flower and the colour, divine.

Shattered in the Rain 8But the rain was taking its toll on the dear, little one.

Shattered in the Rain 9And this morning I awoke to a broken sight.

Shattered in the Rain 10My heart broke. Perfection, beauty lay fallen upon the ground.

Shattered in the Rain 11The creaminess had become a soft shade of lemon. Crushed. Compacted in pain.

Shattered in the Rain 13This is all that remains. Remnants of torn petals for which I feel much sadness and yes, guilt.

Shattered in the Rain 14For you see, a few days ago, I took the damaged petals from the rose. I had to tear them off. I feel that I have in some way contributed to the rose’s demise. It was unable to hold all of heaven’s tears and unable to take it any longer, it just gave up and surrendered to what it knew it couldn’t control.

I had even written a poem :-

“Such a silly thing I did today

I tried to take imperfection away

I prayed the Lord, He wouldn’t take

The beauty of the rose at stake”

But by tearing away what I thought was something that was marring its beauty, was in reality actually holding it’s very existence together.

Yes, I know there will be some of you that think I am totally exaggerating; but I see amazing stories and spiritual truths in God’s creation and being able to capture them with the camera is a blessing.

We grow stronger with our trials. With pain. With tears. With anything that makes us feel like we can’t go on.

Jesus is the only One who can hold us together.

Tearing Him from our lives is devastating.

Maybe not now.

But one day.

God bless all who read this.

In the Midst of It All – When Trials Threaten to Overwhelm

Complete

In the midst of it all
Through fiery trials and more
I could not go alone
Your soft, scarred hand
Leads me gently home to shore

In the midst of it all
You are there with me
I need not ask for deliverance
But only to feel and know
That my Saviour I might see

In the midst of it all
As painful as it may be
Oh! Lord remember me
Your Son has been before
I bow on bended knee

In the midst of it all
I will not completely fall
He walks beside me still
Whispers only “Be still”
Jesus my All-in-All

A Wound Too Deep

william wall painting oil on canvas

For many a day
Life is cushioned
Soft green grass
We are disillusioned

Travelling along
No hardships or sadness
We walk towards
Our dreams more or less

And then the road hardens
Slight problems appear
The road becomes rocky
And in comes the fear

What should have been gladness
And fun we are told
Suddenly we stumble
Our footsteps lose hold

Cracks and crevices
Dangerous terrain
We cannot move forward
Without any pain

The road is too dangerous
The gap is too wide
How will we reach our goal
Out of reach – the other side

The wound is too deep
We need help to go on
And then our dear Saviour
Sheds His blood, God’s Son

His blood fills the deepness
Heals the wound from within
And now we continue
Praise the Lord
To heavenly Canaan

For once again the road is soft
He holds our hand, leads the way
Brings us home
And on His heart
We now lay

THE WINTERTIME OF LOVE (A Song of Longing and Hope)

The Wintertime of Love

Wintertime within my heart
A time of reflection, I know
Cold prevails sad memories
And footprints melt in the fallen snow

Chorus
Hidden, forgiven
Hidden, no longer sin-driven
Hidden in the wintertime of love
Hidden, forgiven
Hidden, awaiting heaven
Released through the seasons of His love

I see tears frozen from yesteryear
I feel the pain, it’s unrelieved
Joy trapped and crying for release
Wishing springtime to be forever freed

Chorus
Hidden, forgiven
Hidden, no longer sin-driven
Hidden in the wintertime of love
Hidden, forgiven
Hidden, awaiting heaven
Released through the seasons of His love

But there’s sunshine and sweet flowers blooming
In this life of mirrored dreams above
’Cause I’m hidden in the heart of my Saviour
I’m hidden in His heart of love

Chorus
Hidden, forgiven
Hidden, no longer sin-driven
Hidden in the wintertime of love
Hidden, forgiven
Hidden, awaiting heaven
Released through the seasons of His love

I’M LOST WITHIN HIS STORY (Song Lyrics)

sun nature sea grass

Chorus
If you search me you will find
I’m lost within His story
He deflects my suffering
And I reflect His glory

And I am nothing without Him
My dear Father loved loves me so
Loving so much He sent His Son
So through Him, love’s blessings would flow

There is nothing that I have been through
Am going through or yet to endure
Times I’ve struggled or haven’t the strength
When circumstances find me lacking
He always knows my innermost cry
Yesterday, today, tomorrow

Chorus
If you search me you will find
New life redeemed from old strife
He deflects my suffering
And I reflect His life

And I am nothing without Him
Sweet Jesus He loved loves me so
Loving so much He died for me
How much love, will I ever know?

So I’ll sing of all He’s accomplished
In my days and in all I hold dear
Drawing on His immutable word
Forever in love and trusting ’cause
He always knows my innermost sigh
Yesterday, today, tomorrow

Chorus
If you search me you will find
His pure light upon my face
He deflects my suffering
And I reflect His grace

Lost Amidst the Bubbles

bubbles water fountain

Are you fighting a losing battle
Arms are flailing
No answer in sight
Seeing life in different spaces
Floating aimlessly about
Trying to reach
And gain a foothold
But the current is too strong
People smile and keep on walking
Never knowing
That you’re trapped inside
The morning comes
The morning goes
And soon it is evening
You know you’re alive
’Cause you’re still breathing
But somehow as you silently
Try and find your way
Amidst the darkness
Little bubbles of reality
Float teasingly out of reach
Ah! In a bubble within
The sea of bubbles
Containing loved ones
Friends, passersby
You can see they’re talking
And moving through their day
Smiling, laughing, not a care
But every now and then
You’ll see a familiar face
One that’s filling their own bubble
With a myriad of tears
So you draw alongside
And travel close to them
Through the wonders of life unknown
Comforting in compassion
Taking one another’s hand
Two bubbles now with hope
Allowing you to finally sing

PLEASE HUG THEM (A Song for Those Who Are Hurting)

Tears are welling up inside
I see so much around me
Turmoil, sadness, unbelief
Too much for this heart to see

Children crying, some dying
Hunger, thirst and poverty
No love given, no love there
Vacant eyes stare distantly

Chorus
There’s so many hurting
So many feeling hopeless
So many lost, abandoned
So many sick and dying
And I’m too far away
So all I can do is pray
God, please hug my loved ones
Friends and those in need, today
Please hug them Lord
And take their pain away

Women lost without their homes
Men despaired with no income
Families torn, separated
Floods, droughts, fires, storms make them numb

Watching death take victory
Amongst them that are so close
Feeling left behind, worthless
Overwhelmed by each new dose

Chorus
There’s so many hurting
So many feeling hopeless
So many lost, abandoned
So many sick and dying
And I’m too far away
So all I can do is pray
God, please hug my loved ones
Friends and those in need, today
Please hug them Lord
And take their pain away

So that is why, I now cry
And stand before You broken
Release them from emptiness
Let Love be heard and spoken

All Your creatures are groaning
And nothing can stay the same
Daily there is tragedy
Oh Lord! Reveal Your great Name

Bridge
Hug them like they’ve never been hugged before
Hug them till pure love opens heaven’s door
Hug them till their knees bring them to the floor
Hug them till with joy they praise and adore

Chorus
There’s so many hurting
So many feeling hopeless
So many lost, abandoned
So many sick and dying
And I’m too far away
So all I can do is pray
God, please hug my loved ones
Friends and those in need, today
Please hug them Lord
And take their pain away

H … O … P … E

african daisy flower nature

May you reach forth through every struggle, through the darkness, open your heart and receive God’s love …

He loves you as no one else can and is waiting for you to let go of all that hinders your relationship with Him.

There is nothing that you have ever said or done that He won’t forgive. It doesn’t matter how badly you think of yourself or how badly you think others think of you that you cannot receive His forgiveness.

He has enough love for everyone.

He is waiting for you. He wants to dry your tears and heal your hurts.

Let Him.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
