Father, please give me
The faith of a little child
Sprinkle beams of love
Calm every place that’s wild
Take me back to innocence
Where dreams brought pure joy
Wipe every falling tear
Your power in me, employ
Oh! How I long
To hear my Father’s voice
To see His hand in mine
To love Him, that’s my choice
No distractions, no fear
A learning playtime life
The brilliance of His creation
Washing away all strife
To see the flower
As the little bee sees
To smell the rose
As the air is fragranced
To speak of His love
As the singing birds do
To bask in the sunshine
To reflect soft moonlight
To breathe deep
With anticipation
Of adventures to come
Presents to open
Friends to share
Life
Abounding each day
To be given the love
The love of a Father
And know
I am His child
Safe
Loved
Wanted
Cherished
Father
Make me to be
Your little child
No matter my age
I can still love You
With the heart of an adult
Through the eyes of a child
There will be no judgment
No ‘I want that’
No ‘I won’t do it’
No ‘You can’t make me’
For, through the eyes of a child
Everything just happens
One way or another
One day or another
And this child
Won’t question
This child will believe
That my Father
Knows everything
Has everything
Will do anything
Anything, for me
His child
All the time
His Word
Embraces me
Father, that prayer
I sent heavenwards
Please give me childlike faith
Was answered long ago
Before I even asked
I know this as I write
It’s already mine
I don’t need to ask for it
It’s deep, deep inside
So, sorry for asking
You planted it
When, my life
I gave, I gave to Thine
