A Family Prayer

Lord, You are Light, You are Love, You are Life
Fill me with pure breath, pure knowledge and delight
Watch over my family, keep them safe in Your arms
Please Oh! dear Lord, let us not come to harm

May Your sweet Word enter deep within souls
Cleanse us, teach us, supply all our needs
Bring us to a realization of our state
And shelter us deep within, before it’s too late

Shelter us in the shadow of Your cross
Where we can find life, where You suffered loss
Pour out Your mercy and grace, show us how
To ask for forgiveness, for sins past, future, now

Cover our home, our lives and our thoughts
Our speech, our minds and all that falls short
Of the glory of God, Lord of lords, King of kings
May wondrous in-awe praises, our mouths always sing

Lord, how we need you, Your compassion and full joy
Need You to flow through us, Your Salvation to enjoy
Teach us the fear of God ever-more
That we might not fear man, circumstances or any closed door

Oh! precious Saviour, may Your Spirit direct us
May Your presence, Your freedom, always surround us
Help us to remember to number our days
And may the light of Your Word bring us in step with Your ways

When there seems to be no hope in close sight
When there seems to be no end to the night
When everywhere there’s only wrong not right
Then rescue is near, don’t give up the fight

Searching for peace amidst the raging storm
We draw close to our wonderful Saviour
For He is sleeping whilst we are praying
He will awaken in His sweet hour

Crushed beneath the threatening waves so dark
Floundering in confusion’s foamy froth
Remember our Father won’t lead one way
Change direction, then deliver His wrath

When there seems to be no hope in close sight
When there seems to be no end to the night
When everywhere there’s only wrong not right
Then rescue is near, don’t give up the fight

Reach up and grasp His hand of salvation
Bringing our hearts to the healing altar
Let go and let God, how often this need
It’s the only way to know who we are

Trust in the One who is Hope eternal
For ourselves and all whom we dearly love
For coming through those stormy seas
He’ll always set our feet safely above

When there seems to be no hope in close sight
When there seems to be no end to the night
When everywhere there’s only wrong not right
Then rescue is near, don’t give up the fight

Out of the Well of Despair

fountain well shaft shaft
He drew me from the well of despair
Drew me from filth and disrepair
And as He drew me higher still
Into His love, into His will
A new creation was blooming
And I’m no longer assuming
That no-one will ever love me
Want me, need me, choose me, love me
As I saw the walls of the well
The well into which my life fell
Take on the glow of my Saviour’s face
My heart wall crumbled, fell in place
Grows lighter with each passing day
As I am drawn further away
From life of torment, hopelessness
Now (beautifully) forming in His comeliness

Imagine yourself in this basket of love
As He lifts you up into His arms above
The closer you get to His wondrous, sweet face
Life will intensify in beauty and grace

A Heavenly Wedding

Wedding card heart shape with rose and pink ribbon
Laying lost dreams and all aside
I am becoming Jesus’ bride
I must remember, not forget
Upon whose finger God has set
Heaven’s ring of eternity
With mercy, grace and loyalty
My heart He softens more each day
Opens my eyes and shows the way
And as the time draws oh! so near
He sifts my life, I will not fear
Trials and suffering, peace and joy
With each breath, hope I must employ
With head held high; but humbly low
I look to Him and this I know
A mansion has my name upon
I’ll plant roses ‘cause pests are gone
Bask in perfect light of God’s Son
Knowing this, victory is won
And stepping forward gleefully
In Saviour’s eyes, pure love I’ll see
My bridal train will be adorned
With all of my love, nothing scorned
The fragrance of all tears I’ve shed
Will be wiped dry when we are wed
My hair will glow with truth’s glory
My arms will reach for His story
No more waiting, waiting, longing
The marriage supper … Belonging

I cannot express my words; but still
Upon cleanest paper with the Master’s quill
My prayer goes out to all whom seem lost
Unbelief in my Saviour, who died at all cost
Please, dearest Father, fetch my heart’s distant cry
Bring to the forefront before time run’s dry
My loved ones are trapped upon distant shore
Release them from darkness, I can’t ask for more
The wondrous glories of Thy brilliant creation
Continue to shine and sing with much jubilation
Yet those whom I treasure are stumbling blindly
Can’t yet see of Heaven’s Love given free, so kindly
I cannot express my words; but still
I know my Lord hears all that’s lifted in His will
Precious One to whom every knee shall bow
Fill the void in my life and answer me now
Save my and all whom I hold dear, our loved ones
Open the door, open the eyes, fill with Thy saving grace
Bring all to a knowledge of Eternal Life, show Thy face
The depths of my being shed tears of deep pain
And like the parch-ed, barren land, rivers still need the rain
Fill us dear Father with Thy promises of Love
Thine repentance and forgiveness, gifts falling from above
Remember not the sins of our dear family
Love our loved ones with Thy Love as a new day we see
Dawning on the nights of their unknown pain
Wondrous fragrance, new life, spring-time colours … Salvation’s rain

The Waiting Rose

The Waiting RoseThis beautiful rose was just a bud
When I left my home town
I would have loved to see it bloom
And put on its glorious gown
But it waited for me
Through sunshine, darkness, all alone
And on my welcome return
Sweet beauty in my garden
Smiled fragrantly … just for me
Misty eyes to behold and see

The Waiting Rose (2)When I look into the joyful heart of my Saviour
I see the reflection of who I am in Him

A Light, It Shineth

LightBelongeth us to Him, the King?
Then down on bended knee we bow
Surrendering our total, very being
All we have is forever, now.

Sing Oh! glorious saints of His
Bring praises, praises; cry aloud
Shelter in His righteousness only
Watch for He cometh in a cloud.

Dare we cast our glances downwards?
Following where our feet have been
Forever heaven-wards shall we be watchful
Eye shall then see what no eye hath seen.

Delivereth us, our beautiful Saviour
Into pastures, green with love
Oh! Your mighty saving presence
Sent from our dear Father above.

His Masterpiece, the Colours of Emotion

The Beauty of the Artist

Velvet pink through powder blue
Brings me back to thoughts of You
Shades of orange to poppy red
Fragments of a night-time shed

Scattered pearls of deepest iris
Foliage laced with blossom fragrance, ‘tis
Everything I in awe witness
The Artist’s masterpiece of lovingkindness

Lemon hues and orange crème
Woven with a sparrow’s dream
Silvery grey washes all away
And so, the beginning of a brand new day

The clouds roll in and cast their shadow
And my heart senses the ebb of sweet brightness go
Yet behind the heavenly sunless sky
My Saviour watches, I know He is nigh

So when the palette of my life, it fades
And each stroke of His brush, it lovingly raids
The very core of this, my believing heart
I look beyond the grey and embrace His divine art
