PLEASE HUG THEM (My Prayer And Song For All Who Are Going Through Extreme Trials)

I dedicate this precious song to all who are trapped or feel like they are trapped in circumstances beyond their control. Particularly, surrounding the virus atm. I think of any areas of natural disaster, abuse, addictions, hunger, thirst, loneliness, homelessness, unemployment, sickness, loss of loved ones, any situation where you’ve lost all hope …

PLEASE HUG THEM (for those who are hurting)
Tears are welling up inside
I see so much around me
Turmoil, sadness, unbelief
Too much for this heart to see

Children crying, some dying
Hunger, thirst, poverty
No love given, no love there
Vacant eyes stare distantly

Chorus
There are so many hurting
So many feeling hopeless
So many lost, abandoned
Sick and dying
And I’m too far away
So all I can do is pray
God, please hug your loved ones
Those in need, today
Please hug them Lord in Jesus’ name
And take their pain away

Women lost without their homes
Men despair without income
Families torn, separated
Floods, fires and storms make them numb

Watching death take victory
Among them that are so close
Feeling left behind and worthless
Overwhelmed by each new dose

Chorus
There are so many hurting
So many feeling hopeless
So many lost, abandoned
Sick and dying
And I’m too far away
So all I can do is pray
God, please hug your loved ones
Those in need, today
Please hug them Lord in Jesus’ name
And take their pain away

Bridge
Hug them as they’ve never been hugged before
Hug them till love opens heaven’s door
Hug them till their knees lower to the floor
And with joy they praise and adore

So that is why I cry now
And stand before You broken
Release them from emptiness
Let Love be heard and spoken

All Your creatures are groaning
And nothing can stay the same
Daily there is tragedy
Lord, reveal Your great Name

Chorus
There are so many hurting
So many feeling hopeless
So many lost, abandoned
Sick and dying
And I’m too far away
So all I can do is pray
God, please hug your loved ones
Those in need, today
Please hug them Lord in Jesus’ name
And take their pain away
And take their pain away

  1. Oh this was lovely! So heartfelt and loving. I listened to it with my girls and we all enjoyed it. Brought tears to my eyes with how sweet and caring it was. You’re a gift to this world Liana. A beautiful light among the darkness. ❤️

  2. Beautiful lyrics, Liana, and beautiful vocals, Kathleen! Why does prayer always seem like not enough – when so often it is the most powerful act we can do! Thank you for sharing this with us! Praying God’s Shalom over this new year for you! ~ Maryleigh

    1. Thank you for your beautifully encouraging comment Maryleigh. May this year bring you abundantly more than you can imagine wrapped in His peace, love and joy. May we believe that with every firework that lifted heavenwards, prayers were being lifted, prayers that don’t fizzle and let off a lot of expensive smoke. Oh! The fireworks may be very pretty and spectacular for a moment; but bang … and they’re gone … prayers have eternal consequence and purpose and are free. God bless x

Liana & Kathleen, this is such a beautiful song!! Liana, your comforting lyrics reach the soul right where it’s broken. Your poetry blends like a rich musical tapestry with Kathleen’s rich, powerful voice and beautifully crafted melody. Woven together this becomes a powerfully anointed song that I pray our Heavenly Father will use to bring hope, healing, and encouragent to many hurting people for His great glory and honor, in Jesus name, amen.
God bless both of you always in your beautiful gifts as you glorify Him and encourage His people.
    Love, Suzanne 🙂
