DOWN BY THE WATER’S EDGE (Song Lyrics)

footprints in the sand

Sometimes Lord, I just don’t know what to say
Words are lost, hidden deep in this broken heart
So I’ll sing them within, may the melody rejoice
Come oh Lord, may joy’s lyrics be captured and used
Take my hand, and we’ll stroll where the waves depart

Down by the water’s edge, where the shore melds
The sea, and the sand disappear underfoot
Open my ears so I may hear Your wonderful truths
Open my eyes that I might see Your loving face
And footprints where my feet, I must by faith, put

Waves gently lap across our journey’s path
Washing and purging all that’s dark, my trial
The light of Your life draws me closer, darkness turns grey
I say I need help every day, that I need You
My prayer is lost in the seafoam of Your smile

I’m so blessed to know You, be known of You
What a beautiful moment etched in my mind
Sweet memories, sown in love, find their way to safety
Time passes slowly, the seagulls join in chorus
And with joy in Your word, I’m now aligned
